A dull chain produces smaller wood chips or saw dust.

Sharpening your chainsaw chain requires technique and practice.
The chain might be too dull or unevenly sharped. Make sure to sharpen the chain evenly on both sides, use the appropriate angle, and use the right filing equipment for each chain type/model.
